The Basics

All combat in Elysium Cove is role-play based.  Less both parties agree to it being dice.

All attacks should be posted as attempts.  Only the person you are attacking can decide if the attack is successful or not. Otherwise the highest dice roll wins.

So instead of posting: "/me whips out his switchblade and slices Bill across the gut deeply", you should post: "/me whips out his switchblade and swings it towards Bill's gut, hoping to give him a deep cut."  Only Bill can decide if your attack will hit or miss. Conversely, only you can decide if any of Bill's attacks hit or miss you.

No one may be seriously disfigured or killed unless they give explicit consent before-hand.

Healing Time Guidelines:

Injuries and healing should be role-played out.  If you get beaten up, you can't walk around town fully-healed a few hours later.  Even as supernatural, wounds take time to heal less you go through the supernatural means to get them healed.

1.  Mild injuries:  mildly beaten up in a fist-fight, banged up face, bruised sides, etc.  Healing time should take about 1-2 days IRL (in-real-life) time.

2.  Moderate injuries: moderate blunt trauma from fists or melee weapons (broken nose, beaten-up by brass knuckles, baseball bat/crowbar injuries that did not include the head or breaking major bones), or moderate knife wounds (slashes/cuts).  Healing time should take about 3-4 days IRL time.

3.  Serious injuries:  Any gunshot wound, any trauma that resulted in badly broken bones or serious head trauma, or a serious knife wound (such as a deep stab-wound ).  Healing time should take 6-7 days IRL time.

Weapons:

All melee weapons are allowed.  ONLY hand-guns, shotguns & Bolt action hunting rifles are allowed as fire-arms; NO explosives, assault rifles, machine-guns, etc. The only exception to this rule is the ECSD who may have semi-auto AR’s and only in extreme cases of violence, and Admin Approved Events/Scenes.

When you do use your gun, make your first post drawing and aiming the gun--you may NOT draw your gun and fire on the same post.

Regarding fire-arms, please use guns restrictively.  Elysium Cove is a city in the United States, not a combat-zone in Iraq.  If you're running around shooting at everyone who looks at you funny, the Sheriffs will be instructed to come gunning for you in full-force.

Also, Law Enforcement will consider assault with a fire-arm as a serious offense, but assault with melee-weapons is not so serious.  Keep this in mind.

How to Fire your Firearm:

- You CANNOT draw and shoot in 1 post. You MUST RP one post for clearing leather (removing the weapon from its spot on your person) and a second post for actually engaging (firing) at your target.

- Handguns are allowed to be fired twice per post. Shotguns once per post. You can however, RP shooting and then pumping the weapon in one post if your shotgun isn't a semi-auto.

- Blind fire/Suppressing fire is allowed. You MAY shoot multiple shots per post so long as you understand none of those bullets are expected to hit and RP them as being shot blindly. You may not use blind firing as a way to draw and fire in one shot. You must still make one post drawing the weapon.

- Take your hits. A standard 9mm round leaves the barrel at over 1000 FPS, more than the speed of sound. Distance and cover all play a factor, but someone standing in the wide open at short to medium ranges Firearms training, shooting at them, is going to get drilled. “Dodging a bullet” is rarely a plausible tactic. Gunfights come down to speed, cover, and accuracy.

- Getting shot hurts. Getting shot is extremely traumatic on the body, regardless of the race you are, and even if it doesn't your race, to keep up the masquerade it should come off like it. While certain drugs can increase your pain tolerance, generally speaking getting shot with multiple rounds is going to put you down. Adrenaline plays a big factor in keeping someone going in a gunfight when things get bad. A person with a Strong Will would also be able to keep trucking better than most.

- ECSD Use of Lethal Force. As this is America, Police/Sheriff ROE (Rules of Engagement) apply. Anyone who points a firearm at an Officer of the law or points it at a citizen where there is an overwhelming probability of serious injury or death is subject to immediate lethal action, period.

Allowed Guns:

There are three kinds of guns allowed by citizens or criminals to use in Elysium Cove - semi automatic hands, shotguns & Bolt action hunting Rifles. No automatic weapons, no rifles, no other heavy ordnance.

While Maine is an Open Carry State, and Washington law states that no local ordinance can make any weapon law stricter, this is second life - as such, the following is the rule.

-- All handguns may be open carry/Conceal

-- All Shotguns and Bolt Action hunting rifles may not be open carried.

Other weapons rules:

--No open carry or possession of a blade more than 6" long ( the span of an avatars hand)

--No body armor -- under special circumstances the ECSD may wear armor, vest and carry weaponry not available to the public. If you want body armor - it needs admin approval and it will only be through proper role play.

--Suppressors (Silencers): Suppressors are allowed in Elysium Cove, however due to weapon rules and ATF regulations possession or using a suppressor in a crime is a Felony charge.

--Stun Guns / NMI Devices (Tasers): Non Governmental/Approved Security groups are allowed to carry contact "Pain Compliance" method tasers. These are stun guns that must make contact with the person for damage to be rendered.

--Shotgun Ammunition: The only allowed shotgun ammunition types are Buckshot, Slugs, and rubber slugs.

--Any Other weapons or forms of weapons are by admin approval for special scenes. You want to use a molotov cocktail ask us - if its to burn something down ask us so we can make a plan with the fire department so there is someone to respond! Communication is the best.
